Prohibited Items Policy

Items and activity that are not allowed on Giving Free.

Always prohibited

  • Alcohol, tobacco, nicotine products, vaping products, and related paraphernalia.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, knives intended as weapons, weapon accessories, and other weapons.
  • Illegal drugs, recreational drugs, controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, medicines, supplements, vitamins, medical devices, and prescription items.
  • Adult products, pornography, sexually explicit material, or sexual services.
  • Animals for breeding, fighting, food, or unsafe transfer. Pet rehoming is not supported at launch.
  • Stolen goods, counterfeit goods, pirated media, unauthorized copies, or items that infringe intellectual property rights.
  • Recalled products, unsafe products, hazardous chemicals, poisons, pesticides, fuel, fireworks, or other dangerous materials.
  • Food, beverages, perishable goods, opened cosmetics, used personal hygiene products, and items that create hygiene or contamination risk.
  • Financial products, gift cards, tickets, lottery items, accounts, identity documents, SIM cards, personal data, or anything used to obtain financial or identity access.
  • Items that are illegal to possess, transfer, import, export, or distribute in Ghana.

Restricted or review-required

  • Baby and child items must be clean, complete, and not recalled. Car seats, helmets, and safety-critical child equipment may be rejected.
  • Electronics must be accurately described, include known defects, and must not contain personal data.
  • Furniture and appliances must disclose damage, electrical faults, pest exposure, mold, missing parts, or safety concerns.
  • Copyrighted material must be original media that the donor has the right to give away.

No payment or trade

Giving Free does not allow sales. Users may not request money, payment links, delivery fees, deposits, swaps, trades, tips, courier fees, or any other consideration. Posts or messages that turn a donation into a transaction may be removed.

Admin discretion

Administrators may reject or remove any listing that creates legal, safety, fraud, hygiene, reputational, or operational risk, even if the item is not specifically named above.
